Frobuild Introduces Discounts for Beneficiaries and Homeowners

Handymen and homeowners like PJ Akeeagok of Iqaluit will now receive a 10 per cent discount at Tim-BR Mart Frobuild (2006) Ltd. 

Iqaluit, Nunavut (April 23, 2012) – Tim-BR Mart Frobuild (2006) Ltd. is now providing Beneficiary and homeowner discounts.

A 100 per cent Inuit owned business; Frobuild is a lumber and hardware-retail outlet that services the Baffin region and is located in Iqaluit. Frobuild is jointly owned by Nunasi Corporation and Qikiqtaaluk Corporation since 2006.

“The Beneficiary Discount is a reflection of the Inuit ownership through our birthright corporations and also a reflection of the corporate missions of Nunasi Corporation and Qikiqtaaluk Corporation.” Said Lynn Kilabuk, Vice-President on the Frobuild Board.

“Many Inuit shop at the store and we want Inuit to have a sense of ownership the next time they purchase their items.” Kilabuk continued.

All Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement are eligible for the discount. Nunavut’s homeowners are also eligible for the new homeowners discount of 10 per cent.

“These discounts are effective immediately. To receive the discounts register at the till at the time of purchase providing photo identification and a Nunavut Land Claims Agreement Beneficiary card or a copy of title to land.” Kilabuk explained.

The 15 per cent Elders discount will continue to be provided to Elders, however none of the discounts can be combined. The Frobuild store is located at 1515 Federal Road in Iqaluit, Nunavut. To place orders from outside Iqaluit customers can call 867 979 6800.

2012 Nunasi Scholarships Applications Now Avaliable

Nunasi Corporation in partnership with Nuna Logistics, NCC Investment Group Ltd and Larga Kitikmeot will award up to ten $2500 scholarships this year.

The Nunasi Scholarship has been established to encourage Inuit to continue with their education and pursue academic excellence.

Eligible applicants must be Beneficiaries of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement and enrolled in a recognized, accredited educational institution for the 2012/2013 academic year. Mature adult education students may also apply.

Applicant must:

° Submit an enrollment or acceptance letter from an appropriate accredited institution (accredited college, university, technical or adult education program.)

° Be enrolled as a full-time student in the upcoming semester.

° Submit two reference letters from non-family members.

° Submit the most recent transcript with the application to support academic performance.

Applicants will be rated by demonstrated leadership; academic performance; volunteerism and community involvement; career goals that contribute to the enhancement of Nunavut; and financial need.
