Nunasi Corporation is a birthright development company, wholly owned by the Inuit of Nunavut. It is a vehicle by which the Inuit of Nunavut can take advantage of the increased economic activity that is taking place in Nunavut, across the North as well as in other areas of Canada as well. This provides opportunities for Inuit to participate in business ventures no matter where the opportunities exist.

As a development corporation, Nunasi aims not only to earn profits for shareholders but also to enter into business ventures that will directly benefit beneficiaries. These benefits include career and employment advantages as well as education and quality of life opportunities.

Corporate Structure

Nunasi's Board of Directors represent all Regional Inuit Associations of Nunavut and their Development Corporations. The Board of Directors is overseen by a Board of Trustees. The Trustees reflect broad representation from Regional Inuit Associations as well as Nunavut Tunngavik Inc. and Nunasi Corporation.

From offices in Iqaluit and Yellowknife, Nunasi manages several wholly owned subsidiaries and is involved in a large number of strategic partnerships and joint ventures. These enterprises cover a very wide variety of business ventures including retail, transportation, manufacturing, insurance, travel, education, multimedia, fuel distribution, digital communications, medical boarding facilities, contracting and real estate.
