Each year Nunasi sponsors a community speaking tour with Jordin Tootoo, Nunasi’s corporate spokesperson. In 2011 the tour will take us into the Kivalliq region. During the tour Jordin shares messages about the importance of education, dedication, setting goals, the importance for youth to respect for our Elders and also for Elders to respect our youth. The schedule and and updates will be posted on this site as they become available.

2008 Nunavut Wide Tour

2010 Tour

Nunasi Corporation and NorTerra Inc. had a successful tour of the Kitikmeot region on June 14-16, 2010 with our Official Spokesperson Jordin Tootoo along with co-sponsors Kitikmeot Inuit Association, Kitikmeot Corporation and Kitikmeot Economic Development Corporation.

The tour group visited Kugluktuk, Taloyoak and Gjoa Haven. Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to stop in Kugaaruk due to a large community event. We hope to visit this community in the future.

Our tour team included: Jordin Tootoo, Christy Sinclair, NorTerra Inc.; Gary Kitigon, NorTerra Youth representative; Charlie Lyall, Kitikmeot Corporation; Rosabelle Klengenberg, Kitikmeot Economic Development Corporation, Sarah Jancke, Kitikmeot Inuit Association Youth representative; Tim Zehr, Nunasi Corporation and Malaya Rheaume, Nunasi Corporation.

The Kitikmeot Communities continue to recognize Jordin Tootoo as a role model and he was well received by all. Jordin is a strong advocate for the Nunasi and NorTerra companies and continues to recognize where he is from and who he has become as a professional hockey player and a proud beneficiary of Nunavut.
