Position: Insurance Advisor Assistant in Iqaluit, Nunavut
 
Nunavut Insurance Brokers, is seeking a full-time Insurance Advisor Assistant to work with
our Nunavut Insurance Team in Iqaluit, Nunavut and serving the NWT, Nunavut and Yukon
Territories. This position is a term role for 7 months with the possibility of being extended to
permanent.
 
The Insurance Advisor Assistant is responsible for reviewing client’s personal risk exposures
and provides loss prevention solutions. Educate the clients and strives for excellence in the
quality of work and service while building relationships. This position will also perform general
office functions as answering incoming calls, mail and courier distribution, ordering office
supplies, assists with Auto, Home and Tenant policy renewal processes and client payment
plans.
 
You will need to have minimum one year sales and customer service experience; a minimum
Grade 12 education or equivalent and a Nunavut Salesperson License is required. Fluent in
English and Inuktitut language is an asset. As well as, strong oral communication and
interpersonal skills, with keen organization skills and a good eye for detail.

Third Robert Munsch Book Published in the Inuit Language 

Igoalqaluit, Nunavut (Jan. 31, 2012) With sponsorship from Nunasi Corporation, the Nunavut L iteracy Council has published internationally acclaimed children’s author Robert Munsch’s awa rd-winning book Just One Goal in the Inuit language.

Just One Goal! is the best-selling book inspired by a girl who struggles to get a hockey rink closer to home in her NWT community. Just One Goal! will be released for Inuit Languages Week in Nunavut—Uqausirmut Quviasuutiqarniq—February 6 to 10, 2012.

Robert Munsch stayed with Kim Crockatt, the Executive Director of the NLC, and her family when he was in Cambridge Bay a few years ago.  While there, he encouraged her to publish his books in Inuktitut and Inuinnaqtun. “We are excited to say we have published three of his books over the last three years,” Crockatt says. “It is great for kids to be able to read Robert Munsch’s fun stories in their own language.”

Just One Goal! will be distributed to schools, daycares, Larga homes and libraries. It will also be available for purchase. The Nunavut Literacy Council is grateful to Nunasi Corporation, Larga Baffin, NCC Development Limited, Nuna Logistics, MMG Mineral & Mining Group and Scholastics Canada for their contributions to Just One Goal!  

The Nunavut Literacy Council works to support language and literacy development in all of Nunavut’s languages. They produce a variety of family literacy resources, including Inuit language books, games, and activities. The NLC also conducts research and develops policies and programs to support oral language and literacy skills, with a focus on Inuit language promotion, community development, and social wellbeing.
