Mission Statement

Nunasi Corporation is a special corporate body established for the benefit of its Inuit shareholders. Nunasi's uniqueness is based on the tempering of bottom line considerations with concern for its shareholders, environmental, cultural and social well being.

A Message from the Chairman of the Board - Peter Tatty

Our task, as board members, is to direct the course of Nunasi Corporation so that it can be used as a tool for Inuit to attain the knowledge and experience that will enable our descendants to have greater control over the economy and commerce of Nunavut. As the people of Nunavut adapt to the emergence of Canada's newest territory, we too must start thinking about how we can become stronger, both as representatives of our respective regions, and as board members for Nunasi as a birthright Corporation. We were all instructed by our respective trustees to build an economic institution for the advancement and benefit of our shareholders and we must keep that ever present in our minds.

A Message from the President & COO - Tim Zehr

As the only 100% Inuit owned Development Corporation, representing all 3 regions across Nunavut, it is truly a pleasure to be part of a great team, and it’s people. Nunasi’s takes a two pronged approach to business today when it comes to growth and partnerships. We ask ourselves 2 key questions when assessing new business ventures and partnerships. 

1. Is this a sustainable, long term, solid investment financially which will create meaningful opportunities for our beneficiaries?

2. Will this have a positive impact for our beneficiaries, environmental, cultural and social well being.

Diversity is the key to our success, Nunasi has over 60 related business ventures with a wide range of business partners. We are proud to work with the regional Development Corporations, as well as the many Inuit owned organizations throughout Nunavut both private and government  related. Our approach always keeps the interest of the Inuit beneficiaries at the forefront, it’s not an approach that’s very common in today’s business world, however it’s one that’s been very successful, and the right approach for the people of Nunavut. Nunasi also plays a key role in supporting the many cultural and social activities of our people, along with supporting both leadership and educational programs for our youth of tomorrow.
